The School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering of Hanoi University of Industry (HaUI) in Vietnam co-hosted the 2026 Vietnam–Korea Global AI Business Workshop and Seminar with the Graduate School of Knowledge Service & Consulting of Hansung University in Korea, and signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to expand AI education infrastructure in Vietnam and promote industry-academia cooperation.

The event took place on August 6 and 7 at the HaUI Convention Hall. From HaUI, Dean Hoàng Tiến Dũng of the School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering, Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering Technology Nguyễn Hữu Phấn and other university leaders attended, together with about 20 people from Vietnam's manufacturing and engineering industry, including representatives of member companies of the Bac Ninh Mechanical Enterprises Association. From Korea, eight Hansung professors attended: Dean Jung Jin-taek and Professors Park Yang-soo, Kim Nae-young, Seo Seung-ho, Hong Sung-suk, Kwon Yeon-jae, Kim Jong-man and Lee Jae-hwan.

HaUI, a leading national university of applied technology under Vietnam's Ministry of Industry and Trade, gained momentum through the event for digital and AI transformation (AX) in Vietnam's manufacturing industry and for developing data-driven AI convergence talent.

Over the two days, twelve expert sessions focused on AI literacy, strengthening people's ability to lead and control AI rather than simply use it as a tool.

August 6: AI Education Workshop (innovating AI-based education models and redesigning lectures)

  • Overview of redesigning technical lectures with AI (Prof. Jung Jin-taek)
  • Step-by-step methods for building AI-assisted lectures and an analysis of key tools (Prof. Kim Nae-young)
  • Business planning and visualization with AI tools: a five-step hybrid pipeline (Prof. Park Yang-soo)
  • Applying AI in the classroom: from LLMs to autonomous agents (Prof. Seo Seung-ho)

August 7: AI Business Seminar (AI-driven business model innovation and global cooperation)

Session 1: AI Convergence System & Curriculum

  • Redesigning business models with AI technology and introducing the management consulting curriculum (Prof. Jung Jin-taek)
  • A joint project operating model between universities for developing global convergence talent (Prof. Park Yang-soo)
  • Changes in the marketing paradigm with AI and their strategic use (Prof. Kim Nae-young)
  • Cases and future tasks of AI convergence education in engineering (Prof. Seo Seung-ho)

Session 2: AI Business Transformation & Industrial Application

  • Korea's great-leap mega projects and AI transformation cases (Prof. Hong Sung-suk)
  • Building the paths AI flows through: the semiconductor piping infrastructure industry and AI (Prof. Kwon Yeon-jae)
  • Success cases of Korea's smart factory and AI transformation (AX) support projects (Prof. Kim Jong-man)
  • An AI- and IoT-based remote electrical safety inspection system (Prof. Lee Jae-hwan)

Right after the event, the two universities signed an MOU on AI education and industry-academia cooperation. Under the agreement, HaUI will pursue joint development of tailored AI education programs at HaUI, exchange of faculty, staff and students, expansion of the local AI community in Vietnam, and joint research projects and sharing of academic resources.

"Our cooperation with Hansung University is an encouraging opportunity for HaUI to lead the AI transformation of manufacturing and engineering education in Vietnam," said Dean Hoàng Tiến Dũng. "Through a joint research lab of the two universities and projects with local companies, we will continue to produce talent with global competitiveness."
